Though a small land mass in the Great Lakes, Mackinac Island is replete with a rich cultural history and a unique conglomeration of peoples living in its small space. Throughout the history of the region, some of the most influential moments have occurred at the hands of the inhabitants. This portion of the site will outline the three pivotal cultural eras of Mackinac history and highlight the tipping points that motivated the epochal changes.
